10 Simple Ways to Cut Costs

It is sad that we live in gas based economy and are so depended on this rare natural resource. I know what it is like to fill up a tank and spend close to $70, which only last for a week. I wanted to create a list of 10 ways you can cut other unnecessary costs to compensate for the high full prices.
1. Free shipping.
By purchasing items online and using free shipping specials, not only do you get the convenience of having everything ship directly to your front door, but you don't have to spend money in gas going to the store. In other words, let the store pay for your gas!
2. Look for grocery deals.
Look for the latest deals in circulars, and buy more items on sale. Usually grocery stores have weekly sales, so take advantage of these offers. Keep in mind, only buy groceries and personal items that you will eat or use. Otherwise, you will be wasting money. You can always preserve extra groceries in a freezer or pantry. This way, you don't have to worry about buying the same items next week and paying full price.
3. Don't spend money on unnecessary daily expenses.
It is unnecessary to buy over priced $4.00 cup of coffee everyday. Instead, buy a can of coffee beans and make it yourself. It cost the same to buy a large jar of coffee as it does to buy overpriced coffee.
4. Drive differently (hypermiling).
Rumor has it that hypermiling can double your fuel. To find more hypermiling tips, just Google "hypermiling" to see more examples of how you can cut down your fuel such as emptying unnecessary items in your car and using speed control on fast moving highways. I have been reading some blogs lately about how people saved so much money and fill up their tanks less. I'm impressed!
5. Clip or find online coupons.
Coupons are extra bonuses that will save you money on items that you need. If you plan on buying something, always make sure that there is a coupon in an ad or circular or free online coupons. A website like OnlineStoreCoupon.com has tons of free online coupons. Always check the see if there is a coupon before you buy!
6.Buy end of season clothing.
The best time to buy clothes is end of season clearance because you can save 50% to 80% off the original prices. Make sure you only buy the basic items that wouldn't go out of style next year such as black pants, regular fit jeans, peacoats, basic color blazers, etc. Never buy the latest trends because you may be wasting your money. You can even save money on clothing throughout the year with clothing coupons.
7. Shop around for insurance deals.
Most insurance companies offer the same types of policies at different prices. It is unnecessary to pay more for insurance if another company offers that same policy. The best approach is to record your requirements on auto insurance, home insurance, health insurance, etc. Then, do a little bit of research by shopping around at competitive insurance companies. You will be surprised how much you can save monthly or yearly.
8. Only get a new car when necessary.
Just because your car is a few years old and runs efficiently doesn't mean you should buy a new one. It is so much cheaper to keep a properly functioning car than to purchase a new one. However if you are paying more in repairs than a reasonable monthly payment, it may be cheaper to get a new car. If you are shopping around, always look for a fuel efficient car because the gas prices may even increase.
9. Vacation close by or look for vacation bargains.
If you have enough money in your budget or want to visit another place, look for vacation deals that are close to your house. Sometimes, it is cheaper to vacation a few hours away from your house than to pay airfare and rental car costs. On the other hand, you can get great vacation package deals that provide airfare, rental car, hotel, and food by shopping for last minute vacations or off season destinations. Think about how much fun it is to be spontaneous and travel somewhere new. Or, how much nicer it is to take a cruise in the spring time or visit Europe in the winter by getting great off peak deals.
10. Be frugal.
You work hard earning your money, so be pickier about what you spend it on. If you are not sure what to spend your money on, save it for another day!
